For a second straight game, Hurricanes fans made their feelings known from the stands.
For a second consecutive game in the Stanley Cup Final, Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart found himself at the center of attention from Carolina Hurricanes fans.
During Game 2 at Lenovo Center on Thursday night, chants of “No Means No” could once again be heard coming from sections of the crowd. The chants began roughly seven minutes into the first period and were loud enough to be picked up on the Sportsnet broadcast.
What made the moment notable was that the puck was nowhere near Hart at the time. Play was taking place in Carolina’s end of the ice, yet the chants continued, making it clear that the crowd’s focus wasn’t on the action unfolding on the rink.
The same chant was also heard multiple times during Game 1 earlier in the week, particularly when Hart handled the puck behind his net.
The chants have drawn attention because of Hart’s connection to the highly publicized Hockey Canada case that dominated headlines across the hockey world in recent years. Hart, along with former NHL players Michael McLeod, Dillon Dubé, Cal Foote, and Alex Formenton, was charged in connection with an alleged 2018 incident in London, Ontario. All five men were found not guilty of sexual assault by an Ontario Superior Court judge on July 24, 2025.
Despite that outcome, the chants have continued throughout the series, creating one of the most talked-about off-ice storylines of the Stanley Cup Final.
Hart has not publicly commented on the chants, and the Golden Knights have remained focused on the series itself, and let’s be honest, they would not allow anyone to comment on the situation.
Still, after hearing the same message from the crowd in back-to-back games, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
Whether the chants continue as the series progresses now becomes another storyline to watch as the Stanley Cup Final moves forward.
