The Kitchener Rangers are the 2026 OHL champions after closing out an impressive playoff run with a 16–2 record, but the celebration itself turned into a shocking scene.

As the on-ice celebrations erupted following the final horn, forward Dylan Edwards was caught up in the chaos and suffered a cut to his forehead.

The moment appeared to happen early in the celebration when Edwards was struck by a flying goal stick from Christian Kirsch, opening a cut that quickly turned the championship celebration into a bloody scene.

Blood was visibly running down Edwards’ face and onto his jersey, with several teammates also getting stained during the chaotic celebrations, including Jack Pridham and Anton Andonovski.

Despite the incident, the mood remained jubilant as Kitchener secured the title and capped off a dominant postseason run.

General manager Mike McKenzie also drew praise for key roster moves, including the acquisitions of Edwards and Sam O’Reilly, both of whom played major roles in pushing the Rangers toward a Memorial Cup berth.

What should have been a standard championship celebration quickly turned into a memorable and chaotic scene: one that perfectly summed up just how emotional and physical the journey to the title had been.
