Colby Cave's interaction with a young fan now takes on a whole new meaning.

The hockey world was hit with some shocking and terrible news on Saturday when it was revealed that Edmonton Oilers forward Colby Cave had passed away at the young age of just 25 years old. It is frankly hard to believe that a man so young, a professional athlete no less, at the peak of his athletic prime could succumb to what at the end of the day was a health issue and no doubt it will be a long time before many of us have come to accept that Cave is well and truly gone.

Although no doubt those most impacted will be Cave's family, and especially his young wife Emily whom he married only months ago, there is an entire generation of young fans in Edmonton, Alberta and in Bakersfield, California that will be left reeling at the news of his passing. On Saturday, just hours after the news of Cave's passing had broke, the staff of the Bakersfield Condors, the American Hockey League affiliate team of the Edmonton Oilers, published a video of Cave interacting with a fan on their YouTube channel simply titled "Colby Cave: Always Remember."

Now I was surprised when I first saw the video pop up thinking it to be some kind of highlight reel published by the Condors in memory of Cave, largely due to the fact that it would have been an incredibly quick job to produce and publish that kind of content so quickly after the news of his passing. I was wrong though, this was no highlight video and instead it was something much more haunting, something that will no doubt stay with many of you long after you're done watching this clip.

The video itself is only a few short seconds in length and it features Cave front and center interacting with a young female fan, signing her jersey and no doubt passing on good vibes to the young ones like NHL players are known to do. It is what Cave says to the young lady however that is so poignant now that we know he is gone.

Cave simply tells her "Always remember me ok?"

It is a haunting message given what we now know, and I for one will do my best to remember you Colby.
