Hair pulling in the sport of hockey?
The hatred between the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins was plain to see during Game 4 of their opening round series in the Stanley Cup playoffs and, even after the final horn had sounded, the hatred continued to spill out on the ice from both sides.
One particular interaction at the end of the game has provoked a ton of reaction from fans on social media, with some calling out Penguins veteran forward Bryan Rust while others are pointing the finger of blame in the direction of Flyers rookie Porter Martone.
Rust and Martone found themselves opposite one another after the final buzzer had sounded at the end of the third period, with players on both sides of the ice pushing, shoving, and even throwing a few punches in an attempt to set the tone ahead of Game 5. The interaction between Rust and Martone would go a little differently however, with Martone attempting to put Rust in a headlock and the veteran Rust responding in fairly dirty fashion.
As Martone appeared to attempt to put the squeeze on Rust's head, Rust simply grabbed a handful of Martone's hair and forced him to jerk his head back violently by pulling hard on that handful of hair and taking Martone's head with it.
Some have called Rust out for his treatment of Martone, suggesting that hair pulling has no place in the sport, while others have suggested that Martone got what he deserved for trying to pull a stunt like that against an established National Hockey League veteran.
