A dangerous moment on the ice has fans questioning the Lightning forward’s judgment
Corey Perry of the Tampa Bay Lightning may have put a teammate in serious danger during Tuesday’s game. In a tense sequence, Perry left the door to the bench unlatched, and when Ottawa Senators’ Jordan Spence hit Zemgus Girgensons, Girgensons crashed directly into the door.
The impact could have seriously injured anyone in the wrong place at the wrong time: a moment that had fans on edge and sparked plenty of debate online.
While accidents happen in hockey, leaving a bench door open in the heat of the action is a risk no player should take.

Lightning fans are now left asking: was this an oversight, or did Perry’s positioning put his teammate in harm’s way? Either way, it’s a reminder of how quickly a standard play can turn into a scary situation on the ice.
Perry did however redeem himself with a goal and I’m guessing that was enough for his teammates, and especially Girgensons, to forgive him.
