Criticism of Ovechkin begins already after big mistake leads to Penguins goal.

The NBC national broadcast wasted no time turning on Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin after a seemingly lazy effort on his part led to a Penguins goal.

The Washington Capitals were attempting to clear the puck out of their own zone when Kevin Shattenkirk sent it up along the boards to Ovechkin who gave the puck a halfhearted shove with one hand, resulting in a turnover for the Penguins.

Seconds later the puck was in the back of the Capitals net for the second time this evening resulting in a 2-0 lead for the Penguins and a -2 on the night for Ovechkin.
