Crushing hit at the World Cup leaves Backlund with a concussion.

This one looked a little high.

Earlier today the Calgary Flames confirmed that their forward Mikael Backlund had in fact suffered a concussion at the World Cup, and now we've got video of the moment it happened.

The Swedish forward was crushed by Finland's Sami Lepisto, who caught him trying to cross the blue line with his head staring straight down at the ice, a cardinal sin in the game of hockey.

Nonetheless the hit did appear to catch Backlund up high, and the fact that he was knocked out of the tournament and later diagnosed with a concussion would seem to indicate that was in fact the case.
