This day in Bruins history: NHL record shattered! (VIDEO)

On this day way back in 1973 Bobby Orr set an NHL record for assists by a player at his position. Bobby being Bobby he did it in spectacular fashion, with a 4 assists performance during an 8-0 beat down of the Detroit Red Wings. The previous record holder Doug Harvery had 452 assists over the course of 1,113 games. With Bobby's 4 assists that night he reached 456 helpers, and he did it in just 458 games, that's almost an assist a game for his career up until that point, and less than half the games played of the previous record holder. It wasn't until another legendary Bruin came around, Ray Bourque, that Bobby's record was broken. Here's a little tribute to Bobby Orr, enjoy the nostalgia!
