Ron Hextall was the most one of a kind goaltender in the history of hockey. His ability to get under opponents skin was legendary, but so were his puck handling skills.
On this day, 27 years ago, Hextall made NHL history by becoming the first goaltender to ever score a goal by shooting the puck into an empty net.
Hextall would go on to score in a playoff game the following season and become the only goalie to score in the playoffs.
He was surely one of the most polarizing personalities to ever play for the Flyers and a true Flyers favourite.
