On this day back in 1997 Red Wings head coach Scotty Bowman won his 200th career game behind the Detroit bench. The milestone marked the third time Bowman had coached a team to 200 wins, having done it previously with the Montreal Canadiens as well as the Buffalo Sabres. Bowman, the leagues all time wins leader as a coach, would go on to win a record nine Stanley cups as a coach, including three win the Red Wings.
