Connor McDavid shook off big hit to lead Oilers past Vancouver
A video of Connor McDavid being hit hard by Vancouver Canucks defenseman Jake Virtanen went viral Friday night during the Oilers and Canucks rookie game. Even though McDavid took the hard hit, he still retaliated with the best weapon he knows: offensive power.
In the end, the Oilers young wolves crushed the ones of Vancouver 8-2 and the number one pick in this year's draft scored a goal and added an assist, making sure people don't think the hit shook him too much.
The phenom knows he can do better though.
"It was all right. I mean, I could've played better personally, but the team did a great job and we played a very good game for what was the first game of the year for a lot of guys, including myself. It's the first game all year", said McDavid to NHL.com.
The Oilers will now play the Flames on Saturday, but McDavid's presence in the line-up hasn't been confirmed yet.
