The NHL has announced it's three stars of the week and the Red Wing's own Pavel Datsyuk has taken first star honors. It should come as little surprise to Wings fans who have seen Datsyuk on a tear since his return form injury this season. in fact in the 7 games since his return from a groin injury, Datsyuk has racked up 11 points. Despite missing time this season due to injury Datysuk is now tied for the team lead in points with Wings captain Zetterberg, and in a 3 way tie for most goals with Nyquist and Tatar. It's clear that Datsyuk's return has been a huge part of the 3-1-0 week which resulted in him getting the first star nod, the Datsyuk-Helm-Tatar line has put up 17 points in that 4 game stretch. Even Tomas Tatar knows that he gets to play with a special talent, via NHL.com:
“He’s the best player I ever saw. Whenever I’m practicing with people back home, even those guys are saying he is amazing. We all know that, so we’re not surprised. If Pav stays healthy, just having him in the lineup is a huge help for us. He’s just playing really good in his area.”
Truly a deserving player if there ever was one, congratulations to Pavel Datysuk!
