A war on the ice and one of the best hockey fights in years!
My oh my what a tilt!
Fans who tuned in to Saturday's clash between the Rockford IceHogs and the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League were treated to an incredible scrap between IceHogs forward Dillon Boucher and Moose defenseman Tyrel Bauer.
First and foremost both of the competitors in this one deserve all the credit in the world for the degree of courage and ferocity they showed in their exchange today, an exchange that can only be described as a war on the ice.
The two sides were embroiled in a pretty competitive game with just one goal separating the two sides when, roughly six minutes into the game's second period, Bauer and Boucher decided to drop the gloves. The two men squared off at center ice but no one in attendance or watching at home could have anticipated what would come next.
It was Boucher who got things started when he grabbed a hold of Bauer's jersey and began peppering him with jabs, but before long both men began to throw heavy bombs with seemingly no intent of stopping. At one point both men were trading like Rock'em Sock'em Robots, trading punches back and forth with seemingly no regard for defense and no concern for the damage they were absorbing.
Bauer's face even became visibly busted open at one point but it didn't deter him at all from throwing bombs, at least not until the officials stepped in to break this one up.
