Ed Belfour is passed on the all time saves list!

Much maligned NHL goaltender Roberto Luongo reached a pretty spectacular career milestone this week end when he passed Ed Belfour to become the #4 goalie on the all times save list. Not only did Luongo pass Belfour, he did it in far fewer games, it took Belfour 963 games to reach his total, Luongo passed him in just 823 games played. The quesiton now for Lungo becomes how high can he climb on the all time list before his career comes to an end? The three goalies remaining ahead of him are a who's who of great goaltenders, Curtis Joseph, Patrick Roy and of course Martin Brodeur who is still adding to his total this season. Luongo currently sits at 22, 438 saves, and has to reach 24,279 saves to catch Joseph, 25,807 to catch Patrick Roy, and 28,810 to catch Brodeur although that total will increase before all is said and done. It's nice to see a guy who has taken so much flak throughout his career reach such a tremendous achievement, and it can only serve as one more bullet point on his potential hall of fame resume.
