We often complain that hockey players give boring generic answers, but last night Eric Staal may have been a little too honest during his post game interview. Chris Johnston of Sportsnet tweeted out a link to the video from the Hurricanes post game a
"I knew it was him standing there." Staal said. "I was either putting it in by him or hitting him with a good one."Bold words from a player who engaged Phaneuf but seemed not the least bit interested in taking on the Leafs defenseman. Not to mention admitting you were potentially looking to injure a player just doesn't sound good. Phaneuf and the Leafs will have to wait until February 20th to get heir revenge.
Eric Staal on slapshot EN goal vs. #leafs: "I knew it was (Phaneuf). I was either putting it in by him or hitting him with a good one."
