A viral clip shows multiple rows of spectators getting involved as they tried to break up the fight.
A heated scene in the stands has become one of the biggest talking points after the New Jersey Devils and Edmonton Oilers faced off, with footage of a massive fight between fans quickly making the rounds online.
The incident took place the first period of last night’s game, when several spectators were seen trying to separate a couple of men who were throwing punches in the stands. Images shared by the New York Post Sports show fans across multiple rows getting involved as they attempted to break up the violent altercation.
The video has since gone viral, drawing attention away from what was otherwise an entertaining matchup between two teams featuring some of the NHL’s biggest stars.
Jack Hughes once again provided a highlight-worthy moment for New Jersey, while Connor McDavid added to the night’s action on the Edmonton side. The game ultimately needed a shootout to settle things, with the Devils coming away with the victory.
But despite the goals, star performances and dramatic finish, the footage from the stands has become an unfortunate distraction — and a reminder that sometimes the most talked-about moment of an NHL game happens nowhere near the ice.
