The final horn sounded, then the real action started. This one got ugly fast.
The Calgary Flames weren’t thrilled to be losing to the Chicago Blackhawks for the second time in 11 days. On Tuesday night, the Flames fell 5-2 and tempers quickly flared at the final buzzer.
Calgary is dealing with a tough start to the season and they had enough. The final horn went off and so did the players when all of them on the ice got into a scrum and started trading blows. Pushing, shoving, punching and even dragging one opponent on his knees away from the pack: the ending of this game had everything.
All 10 players in total were handed misconducts for their actions in the chaotic end to the game. Sam Rinzel, Sam Lafferty, Colton Dach, Matt Grzelcyk and Landon Slaggert got the misconduct penalty for the Blackhawks, while for the Flames, it was Ryan Lomberg, Brayden Pachal, Sam Morton, Jake Bean and Adam Klapka.
Klapka, who initiated this brawl as time expired, was also given a minor for roughing, finished the game with 11 hits and 14 penalty minutes in 14:48 for Calgary. The Flames out-hit the Blackhawks 43-13.
They however dropped to 1-4-1 in their last six games.
