Flyers assessed delay of game penalty because of their home crowd.

There's no sugarcoating it, it was an embarrassing game for the Philadelphia Flyers, and their fans let them know how they felt about it before it was all said and done.

On a night where team founder Ed Snider was being honored the Flyers lived up to their name in the first 57 seconds, flying out of the gate and taking a very early 1-0 lead over the Washington Capitals. Unfortunately for Philadelphia that goal would mark the only real positive moment they had in their first home game of the series.

The Capitals answered that goal with a brutal barrage of six unanswered goals, largely thanks to sloppy play and even sloppier penalties from Philadelphia. The Flyers gave up so many power plays the Capitals were able to set a franchise record with 5 power play goals in a single game, and obviously the home town crowd was not pleased.

They fans began to throw the bracelets they had been given for the ceremony honoring Snider earlier in the evening onto the ice, eventually leading to a delay of game penalty for the Flyers.

Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds seemed furious when the team was assessed the penalty, appearing to mouth the words "f***ing embarrassing while other players, like Flyer Ryan White appeared to empathize with the crowd.

"Whatever. I love the Philly fans. I'd have done it too."
