After a disastrous start to the season, it seems like the Flyers might be back on the right path. A huge part of that resurgence has been the incredible play of goaltender Ray Emery. Emery might be exactly what the Flyers needed, both of terms of his play on the ice, and his overall attitude, something that embodies what it is to be a Flyer. With GM Ron Hextall at the helm of the organization some have already begun making the comparisons between Emery and the Flyers legendary goalkeeper. Emery clearly has always embodied the Ron Hextall attitude on the ice, he will not take any crap from anyone, anywhere. Just ask Braden Holtby: Now however Emery is backing up the talk with his play on the ice. In 4 starts this season Emery has 3 wins, and has yet to lose a game in regulation. Emery has posted a .914 save percentage, a rather impressive stats when taking into consideration the Flyers have been out shot by as much as 20 shots on goal in a single this season. Craig Berube announced today that Emery will be getting his 3rd straight start for the Flyers tonight when they take on the defending cup champions the L.A. Kings. Have the Flyers found the modern day incarnation of Ron Hextall? Here's a little more food for thought.
