Former National Hockey League enforcer turned radio and television personality Georges Laraque has unfortunately been one of the thousands and thousands of people that have been infected by the novel strain of the coronavirus now known simply as COVID-19. Although we think of Laraque as a big tough guy, and that is because he is in fact a big tough guy, even he has been laid low by the virus and has now been forced to spend several days in hospital under quarantine due to his infection.

It is honestly quite hard to imagine what Laraque is going through, not only is he currently fighting off a potentially lethal virus but he has also been placed in a part of the hospital where there are other infected patients due to the need to isolate these people and prevent them from infecting others. The prospect of being alone in a hospital is bad enough but add to that the fact that he is surrounded by sick people, some of whom could potentially die as a result of the virus, and you've got a truly enviable situation for Laraque here.

Thankfully Laraque has no provided us with an update from his hospital bed and although he does appear to be in pretty bad shape it does sound like he is on his way to recovery. In the video Laraque speaks in both French and English and addresses comments from fans who were watching him live and he describes how the virus completely invaded his lungs and laid him low. In fact Laraque reveals that prior to being hospitalized he was actually training for a marathon and was in great physical condition, but reveals that he now needs a tub in his nose to be able to breath properly and eventually clear his lungs of the virus.

Although the video from Laraque is mostly positive he also reveals that he is going to be in the hospital for a very long time as a result of what sounds like a pretty severe case of COVID-19. Laraque does not specify how long he will be in hospital but does say it will be a "good long while" before he will have made a full recovery.
