Red Wings collectively gasped Saturday night when Gustav Nyquist collided knee to knee during the Wings games against the Boston Bruins. Nyquist, who led the Red wings with 28 goals last season, was clearly in pain after the collision and left the game. However after meeting with team doctor's on Saturday and reports are that Nyquist suffered "no significant injury." Wings GM Ken Holland all but confirmed this report with his comments "I'm assuming he's sore, but Gus hasn't reached out to anybody saying his knee has ballooned up. It looked scary at the time but the initial word is that it looks like a day-to-day, short-term injury." So everyone can relax, it appears Nyquist not miss any significant amount of time and should be ready by October 9th the Red Wings season opener. Great news considering Detroit already has star forward Pavel Datsyuk on the sideline and unlikely to return for at least another 3 weeks.
