Someone forget to tell him this is a kids event.

Green Day's Billie Joe drops a massive F-Bomb during All Star Game performance.

It appears as though someone at the National Hockey League's front office failed to inform Green Day that the annual NHL All Star Game is largely a kids event and as a result is an event that usually remains extremely tame.

It was once again for the 2020 NHL All Star Game, however Green Day's frontman, lead singer Billie Joe, decided that he was gonna spice things up during the bands performance at the event. The band was live on the ice in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday night and they took to center ice to perform their song "Basket Case" in front of the crows that was in attendance for the event. It was something of a throwback performance for the band who released the song initially all the way back in 1994, not exactly a ringing endorsement of their more modern hits but that is a discussion for another time.

It is unclear what exactly prompted Billie Joe to drop the F-Bomb during his performance, but it came off to me as a guy that was merely trying to hype up a crowd that was not particularly enthused at the musical act performing during the intermission. To be fair to Billie Joe here his outburst in the middle of the song not only served to demonstrate that he was actually singing the song, but it actually got what sounded like a largely positive reaction from the crowd in St. Louis. That being said the naughty word was immediately bleeped on all of the broadcasts that were operating on a delay for this very reason, however the f-bomb came through loud and clear for some of those watching the live broadcast, resulting in a few angry fans on social media.

I can certainly understand and even appreciate why a parent would be mad if their young child was tuning in to what is meant to be a very family friendly event, however at the end of the day I hardly think this will be the end of the world. No doubt the league is furious and they may choose to distance themselves from Green Day moving forward, but this was relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.
