"The Grind Line" was one of the most potent shutdown lines in hockey history. Red Wings fans adored the combination of Kirk Maltby, Kris Draper, Joey Kocur, and later on Darren McCarty. This ragtag arrangement of tough players left an indelible mark in franchise history. Scotty Bowman would use this line against opposing teams number one, and they would impose their will on theses superstars. They were not just grinders, as this line is responsible for some of the most clutch game winning goals in the history of the franchise. They were an ideal complement to the skill the Wings possessed from the likes of Steve Yzerman and Sergei Fedorov. Truly a staple in Red Wings history.
