Unfortunately there are some people who just simply can't control their emotions when it comes to major sporting events and unfortunately over the weekend we were treated to yet another example of this after Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Following Game 2, images showing an injured Montreal Canadiens fan began to quickly circulate on social media but rather than being painted as the victim, the injured man was having some serious accusations lobbed in his direction. A number of viral posts made the claim that the man in the photograph had only been injured after putting his hands on a member of the opposing fan base.

While the claim that the Canadiens fan had been involved in an altercation at first appeared to be unsubstantiated, a new video has emerged that does appear to show what is the beginning of an altercation between the man in the photograph and a female Carolina Hurricanes fan.

In fact it even appears as though the man delivers a shove to the female fan, although the camera angle does leave some doubt about exactly what transpired in that moment. According to the man who recorded the video, the heated exchange began after Hurricanes fans were chanting "OLE! OLE! OLE!" which allegedly enraged the man in the video enough to cause him to confront the individuals chanting in an aggressive manner.

Although the man who recorded the incident claims that two women were trying to pull the Canadiens fan away to avoid an altercation, their efforts appear to have been in vain.

Here is a look at the video:
