Why the hell is Evegeni Malkin riding a tiger?

Evegeni Malkin wanted to help Sergei Gonchar celebrate his 800th career point but we have to question the way in which he did it. Malkin made himself a sign, the kind of sign you would expect to see at a WWE event that read "Congrats Gonchar 800 Points" and display it on his Instagram, while sitting on a tiger. One has to wonder why the need for the tiger in this picture? Is it some kind of inside joke between the two? Or does Evegeni just have really really bad taste?
