The Washington Capitals captain is best known for his offensive prowess, but it was his devastating physical play that had the biggest impact on Thursday's night Game 1 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin delivered a powerful and devastating hit to Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier along the boards, and it looks like he inflicted significant damage in the process. Couturier was at first slow to get up, and when he finally did get back into the play you could tell he was heavily favoring one arm, an arm that by all accounts appears to have received the brunt of the impact.

Couturier is an extremely important member of the Flyer's roster, and arguably the team's best two way forward, losing him for any length of time would be a big blow to the Flyers' playoff hopes this year.  It does sound like it's a significant injury, Flyers' insider Sam Carchidi has reported Couturier will not return, and that the injury could be long term.
