Hurricanes fans add insult to injury during a blowout in Game 5.
The Carolina Hurricanes took it to the Montreal Canadiens through the first 40 minutes of Game 5, dominating the Canadiens up and down the ice. The Hurricanes picked up 3 goals in the first period and added another 2 in the second, and you can tell that the fans who packed the Lenovo Center on Friday night are starting to feel like a trip to the Stanley Cup Final is in their destiny.
Although the game isn't officially over just yet, the Hurricanes faithful in the building have already taken to taunting the Canadiens and their fans by throwing their chant right back at them. As the Hurricanes appeared to be cruising to an easy victory in Game 5, the Hurricanes fans could be heard breaking out into chants of "Ole! Ole! Ole!" on multiple occasions throughout the second period.
And again:
It was definitely a case of the Hurricanes fans adding insult to injury and unfortunately for the Canadiens it sounds like they may have more of the same waiting for them in the third period. The Hurricanes fans once again serenaded the Canadiens with their own chant as the second period came to an end, showing no signs of relenting.
