Habs fans get under the skin of the Hurricanes before Game 2.
Fans of the Montreal Canadiens are known for being among the most rabid sports fans in any sport, and it is for that reason that they will always go the extra mile to try and get an edge for their beloved Habs.
On Saturday, just moments away from Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final between the Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes, a group of Habs fans did just that when they very clearly got under the skin of some members of the Hurricanes roster.
The fans are from HabsFanTV and they were pulling off a prank that they have already pulled off with both the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Buffalo Sabres in the two previous playoff rounds. The Canadiens fans posed as Hurricanes fans, even going so far as to wear a Hurricanes jersey, doing so in an attempt to bait the players into signing an autograph on the jersey.
Once the players have been lured into the trap by signing the front of the jersey, they are then asked to sign the back of the jersey which contains a special message. Instead of a player name and number, the back of the jersey simply reads "Habs in 4" much to the chagrin of the Hurricanes players once they realize they've been duped.
Not all of them were fooled however which suggests to me that teammates were quickly passing the word around. In fact Hurricanes veteran forward Nicolas Deslauriers appeared to be well aware of what was going on after a few of his teammates had fallen for what is at the end of the day a harmless prank, with Deslauriers even addressing the fans in French because he was wise to their tricks.
