(Injury Update) Freak accident in Flyers v. Stars leads to season ending injury.

Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars had a little bit of everything, big hits, big goals, and unfortunately now we know it also resulted in a season ending injury. Early in the first period the Flyers' R.J. Umberger got tangled up with the Stars' Patrick Nemeth along the boards as the both fought for the puck, Umberger lost his balance during the play and ended up flat on his back feet in the air. The result was Umberger's skate catching Nemeth along the arm, and Nemeth immediately left the game through the tunnel and did not return. We have now learned that Nemeth's injury is so severe he will miss the remainder of the regular season, and possibly the playoffs as well.  Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reached head coach Lindy Ruff for comment: “Patrik is done for the year, maybe it’s a possibility for the playoffs,” Ruff said. “It was a real severe laceration.” Nemeth was playing a puck along the boards, when he and R.J. Umberger got tangled up. Umberger’s skate came up and cut Nemeth’s arm. Although it was clearly not intentional, this is the second time Umberger is involved in this type of injury, having previously cut Mike Modano with his skate.
