The Devils superstar took a stick to the face, and the aftermath was ugly.
Jack Hughes took an errant stick to the face during the first period of the New Jersey Devils game against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, and the result was as gruesome as it sounds.
Video circulating on social media showed the Devils star spitting out a tooth on the ice before heading down the tunnel. There appeared to be significant blood coming from Hughes' face after the play.
Hughes initially left for the locker room but did return to the bench shortly after. However, he reportedly went back down the tunnel a second time, with pundits and reporters on site noting the bleeding appeared heavy.
A referee could be seen picking up teeth from the ice surface after the incident.
When he returned for the second period, Hughes wore a full shield after taking that stick to the face and spitting chiclets.
It’s not the first time Hughes loses teeth on the ice. We all remember how, back in the 2026 Olympics, before scoring the game-winning goal, the Devils’ superstar had at least three teeth knocked out by a high stick from Canada’s Sam Bennett.
Hughes managed to shake off the damage, record a goal and an assist and get the win with his Devils’ teammate… though another trip to the dentist seems all but guaranteed.
