The Montreal Canadiens entered Game 1 of their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a whole host of players on their roster that had never truly experienced playoff hockey. As you would expect that likely led to a lot of nerves for all of the players involved, with perhaps no better example of this than Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes.

Dobes would backstop the Canadiens for 60 minutes through regulation before the game eventually was forced to go to overtime, and it would be in overtime that Dobes nerves began to show. Instead of skating over to the Montreal net in overtime as you would expect, Dobes completely spaced out and instead skated over and even stood in between the Lightning's goalposts.

It was a bizarre situation and one that Dobes may have been a little bit embarrassed about given his post-game comments.

"First time for everything," said Dobes laughing and grinning from ear to ear. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that. I was just in my zone."

Dobes also showed his true character while addressing the slip up, issuing an apology to opposing goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy for any issues the entirely harmless mix up may have caused.

"I never been in OT in the playoffs so sorry to [Vasilevskiy] about that," said Dobes. "Yeah I was just in my zone, thought we were on that side and then I was like 'oops!' we are on the other side."

You can hear Dobes interview and see his hilarious grin when he realizes what question is coming in the video below:
