Joe Thornton hits career point number 1400.

Only 20 players have ever reached that mark.

On Friday night San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton continued to add to his legacy, reaching a milestone that only 20 players in the history of the National Hockey League have ever achieved.

Like he has done so many times before in his career Thornton played the role of the set up man, feeding 26-year-old Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon the puck just seconds before Dillion put it behind Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne.

The point was number 1400 in the NHL career of Thornton, 1014 of which have been assists, just one more achievement that will likely cement him as one of the best to ever play the game.

That being said Thornton's career appears to be far from over, so he has time to improve on that total.
