There is already plenty of excitement surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks’ home opener on Tuesday night, but the occasion has become even more special since a familiar face walked back through the doors.

Jonathan Toews is back in Chicago.

The longtime Blackhawks captain made his return to the United Center tonight as Chicago prepares to host the St. Louis Blues, and his presence carries plenty of meaning for a franchise that has undergone significant changes since his departure.

But there was an especially fitting reason for Toews to be in the building.

Patrick Kane is also making his return to Chicago tonight.

After signing back with the Blackhawks this summer, Kane is set to play his first game at the United Center since leaving the organization. And with one of his closest teammates and longtime linemates back in the building to witness the moment, the occasion feels even more special.

Toews and Kane were the faces of the Blackhawks’ golden era, leading Chicago to three Stanley Cup championships together in 2010, 2013 and 2015. For years, the two were nearly synonymous with hockey in the city, creating countless memories for a generation of fans.

Now, years after their paths first diverged, both are back under the same roof.

Videos and photos of Toews and Kane together at the United Center have already begun circulating and going viral, giving Blackhawks fans a chance to relive a familiar sight.

Tonight isn’t about turning back the clock. It’s about celebrating the return of Kane in the Windy City, having Toews in the audience to witness it and getting one more unforgettable moment with them together.
