This could be very bad news for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs have been completely dominated in Game 2 of their first round series against the Boston Bruins in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs and now things have gotten even worse for the Blue Buds. In the dying minute of the game's second period Toronto Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri suffered a scary looking injury when he was leveled by a big time knee on knee hit from Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk. It's hard to gauge how serious the injury to Kadri is at this time as he headed to the locker room immediately following the hit and the horn sounded for the second intermission less than a minute late. That being said though Kadri was able to skate under his own power but did appear to be heavily favoring his injured leg while doing so.

The hit did not appear to be an intentional knee on knee on the part of DeBrusk but given the way that these two men have been going at it tonight I would not have put it past DeBrusk to deliberately try and take out Kadri. That being said though the collision appeared to be more a result of Kadri attempting to avoid a potentially big open ice hit from DeBrusk than it was of DeBrusk doing something like stick his leg out or deliberately trying to go after Kadri's knee.

Here's a look at some of the action these two men have been involved in tonight:

Kadri has just come out of the penalty box for a hooking penalty and quickly charged into the play and it was just a mere seconds after he had left the box that he was down on the ice, clutching at his injured knee. The impact itself seemed quite intense as it launched Kadri way into the air and sent him spinning onto his side in the process before he eventually crashed back down to the ice. It was immediately evident that Kadri's knee was the issue as the Leafs centerman immediately clutched at his leg and knee area with both of his hands as he rolled around on the ice in pain.

We are still waiting on an update from the Leafs at this time.
