Alexander Vladimirovich Riazantsev a player for the KHL's  Amur Khabarovsk has shattered Zdeno Chara's slapshot record. Chara had previously set the record back in 2012 during the NHL's Skills Competition with a shot of 108.8 MPH. However that record was eclipsed with a shot of 114.127 MPH when Khabarosvk destroyed the puck so hard it came flying back out of the net. However one must keep in mind that not only is the KHL's shooter closer to the net when he makes contact with the puck, he also gets to take several additional strides. The record is still rather impressive but something tells me if Chara had fired his shot under the rules the netting may have exploded. What do you guys think? Legit new record? On the benefit of questionable rules? Here's the video courtesy of the KHL.
