The latest on the health of Daniel Winnik. (VIDEO)

Last night was a terrible night for Leafs Nation, not only did the Leafs lose to one of the weaker teams in the NHL the Colorado Avalanche, but forward Daniel Winnik suffered a terrifying injury in the very first minute of the game. It was especially sad for us here at Leafs Feed, earlier that morning we had done a write up on how we felt Winnik was the one guy Leafs fans could really get behind.  However it appears that despite the injury looking so scary, Winnik is ok. Randy Carlyle told media after the game that Winnik is "100 percent", and Winnik walked out of the arena under his own power. Obviously when your head hits the ice so hard that you lose consciousness there are going to be some long term concerns, but at least he's ok. There's nothing official yet on how much time will miss but we would expect him to at the very least miss the Leafs next game Saturday against the Rangers.
