The Leafs took a 3-2 shootout victory of the Buffalo Sabres last night but it came with a hefty price tag especially considering it's only a preseason win. The Leafs lost both David Booth, who left the game after blocking a shot off his skate, and Cody Franson crashed into the boards at an akward angle after tangling with the Sabres Torrey Mitchell. Franson hobble off the ice favoring his left knee, when reached for comment head coach Randy Carlyle said "He (Franson) went awkwardly into the boards and fell pretty hard,” Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said. “It looked like he hit his knee cap or part of his leg went under him." ot something Leafs fans want to hear before the season officially gets under way. The Leafs did get the win however and their first line looks like it's running on all cylinders. Kessel and Vans Riemsdyk both scored after the Sabres had taken an early 2-0 lead to help their team reach the shootout and eventually win the game.
