Since the team came back in the league in 2011, the Winnipeg Jets crowd has been one of the best in the league. When the Jets scored their first playoff goal in close to 20 years, the crowd erupted in a cheer that peaked at 124 decibels.
To give you an idea, the world record for loudest crowd at a sporting event was recorded at Kansas City Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium, peaking at 142 decibels. The capacity in Kansas City is 76 416... it is 15 294 in MTS Center!
If you still doubt Winnipeg's crowd is the best in the NHL, you have to give it the title for most creative. From chanting "silver medal" at Ryan Miller, to the "Who's your captain?" roar directed at the Sharks after numerous captaincy changed, Manitobans know how to get under the opposition's skin.
But one of the most memorable chant from the Winnipeg crowd might have been the one directed at Corey Perry during the first round of this year's playoffs.
In a promotional event in Toronto last week, the 2011 Hart trophy winner admitted he also thought the chant was quite good.
That was cool. That was probably the loudest building I’ve ever played in. When you see the passion of the fans and just the passion of the city… it was pretty crazy. It was a lot of fun to play in.
Don't change Winnipeg fans, don't change
