It would be easy for Mark Stone to dwell on why the Senators lost in the first round to the Montreal Candiens, and in fact he could even point to P.K. Subban's slash for a convenient excuse but he's not doing any of that. Stone spoke with the Winnipeg Sun regarding the Senators brief playoff run this season and while he admits the wrist injury did cause him some frustration, he's not using it as an excuse.
“It was just frustrating not being able to feel parts of my wrist and parts of my fingers. It definitely didn’t help my shot, but I was able to play through it.”
Despite the injury and the part it may or may not have played in the Senators early exit Stone believes the experience was overall an overall positive for his team, and one that will help him and his team grow.
“Going down 0-3, you don’t come out of that too often,” he said. “But we continued to push and everybody learned what it took to win a playoff series.”
With his skill and that level of maturity you can bet you'll be hearing his name a lot more in the years to come.
