Mason Marchment puts target on his back after blindside hit on Darnell Nurse.

The entire Oilers bench wanted a piece of Marchment after this hit.

The Edmonton Oilers were furious after this one and made little effort to conceal that fact.

On Saturday night, during a game between the Oilers and the Seattle Kraken, Kraken forward Mason Marchment became public enemy number one in the City of Edmonton for a brief moment when he delivered a dangerous hit to Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse.

The hit came during the final seconds of the game's very first period with Marchment catching Nurse from behind with a blindside hit that the Oilers defender never saw coming. The Oilers may have felt that the hit was late as well, with Nurse having already released the puck, but it was relatively close in that regard from my perspective.

You can see the replay of the hit just below:

Perhaps even more notable than the hit itself however was the message that the Oilers may have attempted to send at the end of the period. Instead of heading back to the locker room, what looked like the entire Oilers bench stood near the middle of the ice and appeared to have some choice words for Marchment. If Marchment was intimidated by the display however he didn't show it, giving it right back to the Oilers from his side of the ice.

This one is far from over.
