It was a battle between two perennial Atlantic Division playoff contenders on Saturday night when the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning clashed just one night after the National Hockey League's Trade Deadline.

The Maple Leafs are of course well out of a playoff spot this time around but that didn't do anything to lessen the bad blood between these two teams, something that was evident early on in the game's opening period.

Perhaps looking to light a fire under his team, which is currently in the midst of an abysmal 6 game losing streak, Leafs forward Max Domi would drop the gloves early with Lightning forward Charle-Edouard D'Astous who is in his first NHL season despite being 27 years of age.

D'Astous inexperience may have shown early on when he appeared to be caught off guard by the aggression from Domi in spite of the fact that the two men had been jawing back and forth, face to face, only moments before. Domi on the other hand did not hesitate and immediately started swinging at the bigger man, putting D'Astous on the defensive early as Domi rained down punch after punch.

The fight would end with Domi knocking himself off balance as he swung wildly, with a frustrated D'Astous looking to do some damage back to Domi even after the two men had fallen to the ice.
