Hockey insider Bob McKenzie joined TSN 1050 radio Friday and made comments that would insinuate David Nonis is a lame duck GM in Toronto. McKenzie was asked by Dave Naylor to confirm rumors that Mark Hunter, who was hired as director of player person
"Brendan Shanahan's first choice if he were to hire a general manager other than Dave Nonis would be Rob Blake"If either man is correct, that would indicate that Nonis is simply biding his time until the end of this NHL season. McKenzie did add that while he believed Shanahan's first choice would be Blake, Blake might not want to come to Toronto.
"I personally don't think Rob Blake has any interest in leaving Southern California. He's a surfer, he likes working with the Kings and as much as maybe one day he wants to be a general manager, I would be absolutely shocked if he wants to do it in Toronto."Maybe the Leafs President knows something McKeznie doesn't, he and Blake did work side by side when they were both part of the NHL's Deparment of Player Safety.
