On Sunday, the Detroit Red Wings stunned their fans when it was announced that beloved Red Wings broadcaster Mickey Redmond would be stepping away from the team due to health issues.

It was revealed that Redmond has been dealing with neck issues for some time, and as a result will require a cervical spine fusion to help correct those issues. The surgery is expected to take place some time next week, which will take Redmond away from the Red Wings broadcast until after the National Hockey League's Olympic break.

The news had a tremendous impact on the Red Wings fan base who flocked to social media to send Redmond their best wishes in his recovery, but it wasn't just the fans who were impacted by today's news. On Sunday, the Red Wings faced off against the Ottawa Senators in a hard fought game that the Red Wings would eventually take by a score of 4-3, with Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat playing the overtime hero, but the highlight of that game arguably came after it had already come to an end.

As the Red Wings left the ice, they all made sure to offer their support to Redmond who was working at ice level, resulting in Redmond getting choked up as he discussed his upcoming departure from the team.

It was a beautiful and emotional moment, and thankfully the cameras were rolling for all of it.
