Must See: Dumba lures Kerfoot into a bone crushing hit.

I may be wrong about this, and if I am please by all means feel free to correct me with some examples in the comments below, but I believe this may be the most impactful hit of Matt Dumba's National Hockey League career thus far.

On Saturday night the Minnesota Wild were facing off against the Colorado Avalanche and although a few years ago that may have been a match up that fans would have passed, with the Avalanche's high powered offense this season there was a lot of hype surrounding this game. To the Wild's credit however they shut down the Avalanche's top line, arguably the most offensively dominant line thus far in the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season, and it was largely off the back of some hard work from their blue.

As a result we saw a relatively low scoring game from the Avalanche, at least by their standards this season, and that allowed the Wild to walk away with a 3 - 2 victory over a tough opponent. The highlight of the night however wasn't one that will show up the scoreboard but it is one that got every Minnesota Wild fan that was watching live up and out of their seat.

Roughly mid way through the game's third period 24 year old Avalanche forward Alexander Kerfoot was attempting to break into the Wild zone by stripping the puck from Wild defenseman Matt Dumba as Dumba attempted to get a bouncing puck under control. It's unclear if Dumbas was baiting Kerfoot in or if he just quickly improvised in the moment, but as Kerfoot looked to close in on the puck Dumba absolutely flattened him with by far the most significant hit of the entire game.

It was a hit that appeared to catch everyone in the building off guard and the reaction to the impact was very loud as fans quickly realized that Kerfoot had just been laid out. Either due to the fact that he was stunned from the hit itself or perhaps because he was also surprised by the hit Kerfoot almost seemed to freeze in a sitting position on the ice for several moments before regaining his senses.

This one is going to be on Dumba's career highlight reel to be certain.
