Maple Leafs legend shows he’s still got some moves and son Max can’t stop cheering.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans got a treat thanks to forward Max Domi, who shared a funny video of his father, Tie Domi, back on the ice for the first time in four years.
Known as one of the toughest players in Leafs history, Tie Domi’s willingness to drop the gloves with anyone made him a fan favorite, but as Max’s commentary shows, his father still has the will to look good on the ice despite retiring decades ago.
Tie Domi played his first NHL games for Toronto in 1989-90 before heading to the Rangers, then returned in 1994 and finished his career in 2006. Over his time in Toronto, he racked up 2,265 penalty minutes and still contributed 84 goals and 196 points. His 365 penalty minutes in 1997-98 remain a franchise single-season record, surpassing Tiger Williams’ mark from 1977-78.
Despite all the penalty minutes, Tie’s skill and knack for agitation made him a memorable part of the Leafs’ success in the late ’90s and early 2000s. And from the video, it’s clear that his son Max is still his biggest fan, cheering him on and providing hilarious commentary as Tie dusts off his skates.
