Nash and DeAngelo trade big hits and then drop the gloves.

Things got a bit rough at the Nationwide Arena on Saturday night and it was thanks in large part to two players you would not really expect it from.

The New York Rangers were taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night and fans in attendance were treated to an action packed game that saw both teams score a combined 9 goals by the time it as all said and done.  The action however was not restricted to the score sheet as things got rough in the third period thanks to the Blue Jackets' Riley Nash as well as the Rangers' Tony DeAngelo.

Neither Nash, a former Edmonton Oilers first round draft choice, nor DeAngelo, a former New York Rangers first round draft, have built a reputation for themselves as particularly physical players but with the game all tied up at 4 - 4 with less than 10 minutes left in the third and final period of the game tempers flared up.

It was DeAngelo who got the entire sequence of events started when he absolutely level Nash with a huge check, huge especially when you consider that DeAngelo is a significantly smaller guy and still managed to take Nash off his feet by finishing his check hard. Not one to be bully around however, especially not by a smaller man, Nash quickly bounced right back up to his feet and delivered a hard hit of his own. To be honest Nash's hit may have been more of a push but either way it produced the desired effect and got under the skin of DeAngelo.

After the two men had gotten back to their feet and recovered their equipment they were well out of the play but still relatively close to one another. It was at that point that both Nash and DeAngelo appeared to get on the same page as the two men became to trash talk back and forth before eventually squaring up and dropping the gloves. Both men seemed to connect with some decent shots in this one although none of the punches being thrown seemed to have a major impact on their target.

This one is a tough one to call, you be the judges.
