Net literally falls on the goalie, NHL officials still rule a good goal.
NHL

There was some major controversy in Washington on Tuesday night, but based on the National Hockey League rule book it appears the correct call was made on the play.

During the first period of the match up between the Washington Capitals and the Vancouver Canucks, 27-year-old Capitals defenseman John Carlson scored a goal that the Canucks clearly felt should not have counted.

Prior to the puck going in a Canucks player was shoved into the back of the Canucks net, causing it to topple over and literally fall on the head of goaltender Jacob Markstrom. Moments later Carlson put the put the puck in the back of the net, and the Canucks felt Markstrom had been unable to make a save to do the odd circumstances of the play.

However the NHL officials initially ruled it a good goal on the ice, and after a challenge from Canucks head coach Travis Green the call remained the same, confirming the goal for Calrsson.

Watch the play for yourself and let us know if you think the correct call was made.
