The Edmonton Oilers have lost forward Isaac Howard and it did not look good.

On Saturday, during an early game between the Oilers and the New York Islanders, Howard was struck by an ugly knee on knee hit from Islanders forward Emil Heineman. The game had barely gotten underway when Heineman closed the distance for what should have been a routine hit, but instead turned into a terrible collision for Howard.

Heineman misjudged the timing and instead of driving through the body there was nothing but knee on knee, with Howard's knee buckling as it absorbed all of the impact from the charging Heineman.

Howard struggled to get back to his feet but remained down on the ice for several moments, and eventually needed the help of his teammates to get off the ice. Even with that help, Howard was unable to put any weight on his injured leg, not a good sign for the Oilers.
