If you feel your players aren't getting the message, there's one surefire way to get through to them. Fear. The New Jersey Devils announced that Scott Stevens would be one of the new members of their coaching staff, and most of the guys on that New Jersey bench are old enough to know exactly what that means. Few names carry as much weight, or as much fear as that of Scott Stevens, a man who terrorized NHL forwards who tried to cross that blue painted line into New Jersey territory. Many of the hits Stevens made his name with would not be considered legal today, and in fact, his career shortening hits are likely a big part of the reason the rules are the way they are today.
