Ovechkin delivers cheap shot to Hjalmarsson (VIDEO)

We expect Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin to be the recipient of a phone call from the NHL's department of player safety. Ovechkin delivered a cheap shot to Blackhawks defenceman Niklas Hjalmarsson on a high hit to the head. As Hjalmarsson went into the corner to play the puck, Ovechkin approached and caught Hjalmarsson directly in the face with a shoulder shot. Fortunately for Hjalmarsson, he was not hurt on the play. Ovechkin received a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head, but could receive supplementary discipline if the check was deemed to be a headshot with intent to injure.
